Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Toyota is expected to roll out its all-electric Urban Cruiser SUV in the Indian market before the end of the year. The vehicle, which has already been showcased globally and recently appeared at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, is generating considerable buzz among electric vehicle enthusiasts.
Positioned as a Global Model, Built in India
The Urban Cruiser EV is being developed as a global model, with production taking place at Suzuki Motor Corporation’s plant in Gujarat. The SUV will not only be sold in India but also exported to select international markets, highlighting India’s role as a key EV manufacturing hub.
Based on Updated Platform, Bigger than Rivals
Built on a modified version of Toyota’s 27PL platform, the Urban Cruiser EV features larger dimensions than many of its competitors. It measures 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm—offering improved cabin space and road presence.

Two Battery Options, All-Wheel Drive Available
Globally, the EV will be offered with two battery pack options. The standard variant will carry a 49 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery with front-wheel drive, producing around 144 horsepower. The premium variant will use a larger 61 kWh battery with the option of both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations. The AWD version will include a second electric motor at the rear, delivering enhanced power output and traction.
Range Above 500 Km with Fast Charging Capability
Toyota is aiming for a driving range exceeding 500 kilometers per charge, making the Urban Cruiser EV a practical option for long-distance travel. The vehicle is also expected to support fast DC charging for quicker battery top-ups.
