Tata Motors is all set to launch the Harrier EV in India on June 3, 2025, marking a significant milestone in its electric vehicle journey. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to set the tone for a string of new releases, including the much-anticipated Tata Sierra, which will arrive in both electric (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants.
Sierra to Be Offered in Petrol, Diesel, and Electric Versions
After the Harrier EV’s unveiling, Tata plans to introduce the new Sierra SUV with multiple powertrain options – including petrol, diesel, and all-electric versions. Though official launch dates haven’t been confirmed, both the Harrier EV and Sierra are expected to hit the Indian market within the current financial year.
Harrier EV: AWD and 500+ KM Range Expected

The Harrier EV is designed for both urban and off-road conditions and will be available in single-motor and dual-motor (AWD) variants. Tata promises an impressive driving range of over 500 km on a single charge, positioning the EV as a solid competitor in the midsize electric SUV segment.

New Sierra: Diesel and Petrol Powertrains in the Pipeline
The ICE version of the Sierra is likely to be launched by late 2025 and will carry the trusted 2.0-litre diesel engine, producing approximately 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can expect 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
In addition to diesel, Tata may also debut its much-awaited 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is estimated to deliver around 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque, giving the Sierra ICE lineup a robust alternative to existing SUVs in its class.

Tata Partners with FCA to Upgrade Diesel Engines
To further enhance its powertrain capabilities, Tata Motors has collaborated with FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) to upgrade the Multijet diesel engine platform. This could lead to performance improvements and new offerings within Tata’s diesel portfolio.

Avinya Premium EVs Could Arrive by 2026–27
Looking ahead, Tata is preparing for a major transformation with the introduction of its Avinya premium electric vehicle range, expected by 2026 or 2027. These EVs will be built on the advanced EMA platform developed by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and are set to redefine Tata’s position in the premium EV segment.
