In a move to offer cost-effective fuel alternatives, Nissan Motor India has officially introduced a government-certified CNG retrofitment kit for its popular compact SUV, the Nissan Magnite. Priced at ₹74,999, the CNG kit will be installed at authorised centres certified by the appropriate regulatory bodies, ensuring safety and compliance.
Developed by Motozen, Backed by Warranty
The CNG kit has been developed and tested by Motozen, a third-party automotive component manufacturer. The company will also be responsible for warranty support, which covers up to 3 years or 1,00,000 km, whichever comes first. This initiative aims to offer buyers a dependable and economical upgrade without compromising vehicle performance.

Availability in Select States
Currently, the installation will only be available in specific states as part of the first rollout. These include:
- Delhi-NCR
- Uttar Pradesh
- Maharashtra
- Gujarat
- Haryana
- Kerala
- Karnataka
Nissan has confirmed that more regions will be added in the next phase of the rollout through its official dealership network.

Eligibility Limited to 1.0L NA Petrol Variants
The retrofitment option is only compatible with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Automatic versions and turbocharged variants are not eligible for this upgrade. While the vehicle’s core design and features remain unchanged, the CNG option enhances fuel efficiency, making it a practical alternative for cost-conscious drivers.

Competes with Tata Punch CNG, Hyundai Exter CNG
The CNG-equipped Magnite enters a growing segment of eco-friendly compact SUVs, directly rivaling the Tata Punch CNG and Hyundai Exter CNG. It is priced between ₹6.89 lakh and ₹10.02 lakh (ex-showroom) and offered across six different trims. The move also follows a similar CNG retrofitment option launched by Renault for the Kwid, Kiger, and Triber in early 2025.

Nissan’s Vision for Greener Mobility
Commenting on the launch, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, said:
“The New Nissan Magnite has been a phenomenal product for us and has led the success story in India. To meet evolving customer needs, our dealers will now offer a certified CNG retrofitment kit at authorised centres. We believe this alternative fuel option will further strengthen the Magnite’s value proposition.”
With this development, Nissan continues to broaden its offerings for Indian consumers, combining affordability, safety, and sustainability.
