Mahindra Readies Bold New SUV, Likely to Be Bolero or Bolero Neo Successor
Mahindra is currently testing a new SUV on Indian roads, and early visuals suggest that it could be the much-anticipated next-generation Bolero or an updated Bolero Neo. Based on recent sightings of camouflaged test units, excitement is building ahead of a likely August 15 unveiling.
Redesigned Exterior with Familiar Mahindra Touches
Leaked images hint at a bold and upright stance, staying true to the Bolero’s iconic profile. The new version may adopt design cues seen in recent Mahindra launches like the Scorpio N and the Thar.e concept, while still preserving key Bolero identity elements such as the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate.
A modern front look with vertical grille lines, LED projector headlamps, and a raised nose profile is expected. On the rear, boxy tail lamps and a revamped bumper may be featured. Alloy wheels with a fresh design could be introduced along the sides.

New Platform Expected to Deliver Improved Strength and Ride Quality
According to industry chatter, Mahindra may debut a new ladder-frame architecture with this model, making it more rugged and off-road capable compared to rivals using monocoque structures. This move could strengthen Bolero’s positioning as a durable and utility-focused SUV.

Powertrain Likely to Include Reliable Diesel and New Engine Options
Under the hood, Mahindra may retain the existing 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the current Bolero Neo. This engine delivers 100 hp and 260 Nm torque and is well-suited for both city and rural terrains.
There’s also speculation that Mahindra might introduce higher-capacity engines — possibly the ones used in the XUV 3XO — to give the new Bolero stronger on-road performance. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are expected to be offered.

Tech & Features from Premium Mahindra Models May Be Included
To stay competitive in today’s SUV market, the upcoming Bolero could borrow modern features from Mahindra’s premium models like the XUV700, including an upgraded infotainment system, safety features, and cabin enhancements — while keeping costs accessible for a wider buyer base.
