Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation smartphone lineup—the iPhone 17 series—in September 2025, according to early industry leaks. This time, the company is reportedly saying goodbye to the ‘Plus’ variant, replacing it with a brand-new model dubbed iPhone 17 Air. The change comes as Apple adapts its lineup based on market feedback and performance trends.
Ultra-Slim iPhone 17 Air Could Set a New Design Benchmark
One of the most talked-about additions is the iPhone 17 Air, rumored to be the slimmest iPhone ever manufactured. It could feature a 5.5mm thick body and a 6.6-inch screen, making it not only sleek but also larger than standard models. In contrast, the base iPhone 17 may adopt a 6.3-inch display, building on last year’s design with minor refinements.
Visual changes may include a new horizontal rear camera layout, aiming to give the devices a refreshed identity. Both phones are likely to use Samsung OLED panels, expected to offer greater brightness and stronger durability than previous generations.

Enhanced Performance with New Chip and Charging Capabilities
Performance upgrades are also on the horizon. The upcoming series is likely to be powered by Apple’s A19 chip, built on an advanced 3nm architecture, promising better speed and efficiency. The iPhone 17 Air could ship with 12GB RAM, while the standard version might offer either 8GB or 12GB, depending on configuration.
Another highlight could be the introduction of Apple’s own 5G modem, potentially replacing third-party chips in some models. Both devices are expected to support 35W wired fast charging and retain MagSafe functionality for wireless accessories.

Major Camera Upgrades for Selfie and Rear Photography
Apple may also improve the front-facing camera, introducing a 24MP sensor for clearer selfies and video content. On the back, the iPhone 17 Air might carry a single 48MP lens, while the regular model is tipped to include a dual-lens system featuring a 48MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide shooter.
India Launch Window and Pricing Expectations
Apple typically unveils new iPhones in early September, and this year’s event is expected between September 11 and 13. Price leaks suggest the iPhone 17 may start at ₹89,900, with the Air model priced around ₹99,900 in the Indian market. Final pricing may be affected by import duties and currency fluctuations.
