In an effort to improve appeal in the commuter segment, Bajaj Auto has reduced the price of its Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle. The base model now starts at ₹85,976 (ex-showroom), following a ₹5,000 reduction, as announced through the company’s official social channels.
This new price is applicable only to the NG04 Drum variant, which is the entry-level offering in the lineup. The other two trims — NG04 Drum LED and NG04 Disc LED — continue to retail at ₹95,981 and ₹1.11 lakh, respectively.
Competing Head-On with Honda Shine 125
By lowering the entry price, Bajaj is positioning the Freedom 125 to better compete with mainstream 125cc motorcycles, particularly the Honda Shine 125, which currently dominates the segment. However, it’s worth noting that no mechanical or feature updates have been introduced alongside this revision.

Slow Sales May Have Triggered Price Adjustment
Though Bajaj hasn’t officially stated the reason for the price drop, industry insiders suggest it may be linked to the Freedom 125’s sluggish market performance. The bike recorded 993 units sold in April 2025 and 1,394 in March 2025, numbers considered low for a commuter motorcycle.

Challenges such as the limited availability of CNG stations and low public awareness about CNG-powered two-wheelers could be hindering wider adoption.
Dual-Fuel Engine with Impressive Efficiency
One of the Freedom 125’s key selling points is its ability to run on both petrol and CNG. It features a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 9.5 PS power and 9.7 Nm torque. The bike houses a 2-litre petrol tank and a 2-litre CNG cylinder, offering a combined range of up to 330 km.
Mileage claims include 100 km per kg on CNG and 65 km per litre on petrol, making it one of the most fuel-efficient options in the segment.

Packed with Commuter-Friendly Features
Despite being targeted at the budget commuter segment, the Freedom 125 offers a fairly rich feature set:
- LED headlamp
- Bluetooth-enabled LCD console
- Gear position indicator
- Real-time mileage display
- Combined Braking System (CBS)
- Single-piece seat
- Rear tyre hugger

Will the Price Cut Drive Sales?
With this price adjustment, Bajaj hopes to attract more value-conscious buyers looking for low running costs and an eco-friendlier option. While the Freedom 125 boasts a unique dual-fuel setup and decent feature list, its success now hinges on CNG infrastructure development and improved consumer acceptance.
