Mahindra is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its popular 3 door Thar SUV, and the latest test mules spotted on Indian roads hint at major design and feature upgrades. Expected to debut in early 2026, the upcoming model brings a blend of cosmetic improvements and interior refinements — without changing its core mechanicals.
Inspired by the 5-Door Thar Roxx: What to Expect Inside
Recent spy shots reveal that the facelifted Thar will borrow several elements from the newly launched 5-door Thar Roxx, which has gained significant popularity. One of the biggest updates appears to be a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The power window switches have been moved to the door panels, and a redesigned steering wheel now adds a fresh touch.
The gear console looks updated as well, likely incorporating a wireless charging pad. Other premium touches include new grab handles on the A-pillars and a revamped dashboard layout — all of which aim to enhance the cabin’s premium feel.

Exterior Tweaks Add Sporty Appeal
On the outside, the SUV is set to receive a reworked front bumper, updated fog lamp housings, and a subtly redesigned front grille. The facelift will also feature new C-shaped LED lighting elements and sportier alloy wheels, giving the Thar a more modern and aggressive stance.

No Engine Changes: Same Powertrains to Continue
Despite the cosmetic overhaul, Mahindra won’t make any changes under the hood. The current engine options — including the 1.5-litre diesel (117 hp, 300 Nm), the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (152 hp), and the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel (132 hp) — will all continue unchanged. Transmission choices will include the six-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearboxes.

Body Style and Drive Options Remain the Same
The facelifted model will continue to be offered only in a hardtop configuration. Buyers can still choose between two-wheel-drive (2WD) and four-wheel-drive (4WD) versions, making the SUV suitable for both urban and off-road use.

Expected Price Hike and Launch Timeline
Currently, the Mahindra Thar 3-door is priced between ₹11.50 lakh and ₹17.62 lakh (ex-showroom) across seven variants. With the expected feature upgrades and refreshed interiors, prices are likely to increase by ₹40,000 to ₹50,000 for select trims.
The facelift is expected to hit showrooms in early 2026, continuing Mahindra’s stronghold in the lifestyle SUV segment.
